Damarys Gilligan, LMHC

I work with clients who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship problems, unhealthy behaviors, and/or mood disorders. My commitment to my clients is to work together to create a relationship where the client feels comfortable and safe enough to share feelings that need to be addressed to promote healing. I help my clients learn about the resources available to deal with the presenting problems and learn new tools that can help improve their lives. My clients learn to recognize triggers and use these tools to deal with symptoms. I work with my clients to develop a treatment plan tailored to their needs that will help them navigate through life and achieve personal growth. I work with my clients to learn how to set boundaries, improve self-esteem, learn to overcome abusive relationships (past & present), and manage work issues. My experience in counseling includes treating clients who have been diagnosed with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, dementia/Alzheimer’s disease, and learning disorders. My approach to therapy includes interventions based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) among others. I am fully bilingual English/Spanish and sessions can be conducted in the client’s preferred language.”
