Sara Brenker

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

Everyone struggles with change, but growth without change is impossible. Change is a vital part of the recovery program in your journey to a better self. It is normal to have feelings of apprehension and vulnerability when considering change, but to understand the value of such change creates strength. The new found strength that comes with change gives an individual better control over the direction their life will take. It is key to gain insight towards our thoughts and the direct impact it has on our behaviors. Once we take the time to understand the root cause of a problem, we then have the power to control our responses.

I completed my Master’s Degree in Social Work at Florida Atlantic University in 2018. I graduated Cum Laude in FAU’s advanced standing program. I have experience across a variety of settings including outpatient specialty clinics, crisis stabilization, structured outpatient programs, inpatient psychiatric, large nonprofits, and private practice.

I specialize in co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders along with presenting issues in early sobriety as well as long-term recovery hardships. From my educational and professional training, I have gained experience with dealing with a variety of issues. These issues include, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, poor interpersonal relationships, family relational issues, couples therapy, and difficult life adjustments.

I offer a client-centered approach with an emphasis on strengths-based therapy, solution-focused therapy, and a non-judgmental approach. I also believe the client is an expert on themselves and the therapist is the channel to help them navigate the complexities associated with affliction or vulnerability. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I am committed to attending continued education trainings and learning the latest evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
