Stephanie Byer, MA

Sometimes life becomes so overwhelming and we do not know where to turn. Through the counseling relationship, you and I can work towards helping you feel less overwhelmed and grow in the direction you want. As a counselor, I aim to create an environment where you feel able to express yourself through a positive and safe environment. I believe that you have the potential to accomplish amazing things through self-acceptance and reconnecting with parts of yourself that feel frightening, negative, or shameful. I aim to empower all my clients to be self-compassionate, confident, and have the courage to endure vulnerability and discomfort in order to lead a more connected, meaningful life.

My specialties include eating disorders, addictions, self-esteem, sibling abuse, and anxiety disorders. I identify as a body positive clinician as well as I am committed to Health at Every Size (HAES). In session, I utilize therapeutic approaches including CBT, ACT, IFS, and expressive arts. I additionally have training in utilizing play therapy for children. I take a holistic approach, aiming to treat the client as a whole. My prior experiences include working with adolescents and adults at the residential and outpatient levels of care as well as children within an elementary school.
